iwanrj.com – Jakarta – The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) officially named the Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny G. Plate as a suspect in the 4G BTS corruption case or corruption in the provision of 4G BTS infrastructure packages 1,2,3,4 and 5 BAKTI Kominfo 2020-2022.
Through a press conference broadcast on YouTube Kompas TV on Wednesday (17/05/2023), Head of the AGO’s Legal Information Center, Ketut Sumedana explained that today the AGO is examining Johnny and 6 other people as witnesses in this case.
After carrying out further investigations, the AGO finally named the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate as a suspect in the BTS 4G Bakti Kominfo corruption case and immediately detained him. While 6 other witnesses are still being examined at the Attorney General’s Office.
“We have conducted an investigation related to the BTS case, we have examined 7 people and we have named 1 person as a suspect and have been detained. While 6 people are still in the process of being examined,” said Ketut Sumedana.

Meanwhile, the Director of Investigation for the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office (Jampidsus Kejagung), Kuntadi said that before being named a suspect, the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny had undergone examination as a witness in the BTS 4G BAKTI Kominfo corruption case 3 times.
During these 3 inspections, the AGO collected evidence and investigated before finally deciding that Johnny G. Plate was involved in this 4G network infrastructure corruption case.
“Based on the results of today’s investigation after our evaluation, we conclude that there is sufficient evidence that the person concerned (Johnny G. Plate) is suspected of being involved in the criminal act of corruption in the 4G BTS infrastructure development project,” said Kuntadi.
Attorney Kuntadi has not yet stated in detail the role and amount of the budget corrupted by Johnny G. Plate in the tomb of the BTS 4G Kominfo case, because the case is still being investigated.
He only said that Johnny violated Articles 2 and 3 of the Corruption Crime Act in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code and the BTS 4G Kominfo corruption case that caused the state up to IDR 8.032 trillion.

“Of course we are still studying the flow of funds and we are just waiting for that. After setting the suspect, the activities did not just stop. We are still collecting other evidence,” said Kuntadi.
After being named a suspect in the BTS 4G BAKTI corruption case, Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate was immediately detained at the Salemba Detention Center, AGO Branch, for the next 20 days for further investigation. [NM/HBS]
