iwanrj.com – Jakarta – Twitter CEO Elon Musk plans to delete and archive accounts of Twitter users who have been found to have been inactive for several years.

Through his Twitter account on Monday (08/05/2023), Elon Musk said that the policy of deleting Twitter accounts that have not been used for a long time will cause other users to experience a decrease in the number of followers because of this policy.

“We’re deleting accounts that have had absolutely no activity for several years, so you may see a drop in follower counts,” said Elon Musk.

Another netizen, John Carmark, responded to Elon Musk’s statement via the account @ID_AA_Carmack, who asked the tech billionaire to reconsider deleting an account that had been inactive for a long time.

Carmark considers that users still like old tweets from accounts that are no longer active, so if they are deleted they will get a negative response from users.

“I may be reading this wrong, but if you do delete an inactive account and all of their historic tweets, I STRONGLY advise you to reconsider,” Carmark replied.

Elon Musk replied to John’s comment, and explained that another option for inactive accounts is for the account to be archived. Unfortunately it is not known if or how Twitter users will be able to access archived accounts.

“Accounts will be archived,” Musk explained briefly.

Actually, Twitter already has a policy regarding accounts that are rarely opened. quoted Telset from Gadgets 360 As of Tuesday (09/05/2023), users must log in to their account at least once every 30 days to avoid permanent deletion due to prolonged inactivity.

Elon Musk often makes announcements regarding Twitter features or policies, on his personal account. For example, in early May 2023, Elon created a new policy for its users by enforcing paid articles from media accounts on Twitter.
