iwanrj.com – Jakarta – Astronomers have found a planet similar to Earth, and has a spring. It’s just that the planet is outside the solar system alias is called an exoplanet.
In a study published in the Nature Journal, a multinational team of astronomers say they found an Earth-sized exoplanet that they believe may have water on some of its surface.
quoted Telset from Engadget on Friday (19/05/2023), the planet named LP 791-18 d is located about 90 light years from Earth in the constellation Crater. Planet LP 791-18 d has a manifold orbital system Red Dwarf Systems.
This means that one part of LP 791-18 d is constantly exposed to sunlight, while the other parts are always in darkness so that this planet does not experience day and night cycles. In addition, this Earth-like planet has many active volcanoes on its surface.

“Days may be too hot for liquid water to exist on the surface. But the amount of volcanic activity that we suspect is occurring across the planet could maintain an atmosphere, which would allow water to condense at night,” said one of the astronomers Björn Benneke.
The existence of volcanoes on Earth-like planets is considered capable of supporting the life of living things, because the volcanic activity produced by volcanoes is able to provide an atmosphere.
“Tectonic or volcanic activity is necessary for life. As well as potentially providing an atmosphere, this process could stir up materials that would sink and become trapped in the Earth’s crust, including those we think are essential to life, such as carbon,” said another astronomer Jessie Christiansen.
The team that discovered LP 791-18 d think this exoplanet would be an excellent candidate for atmospheric studies.
