iwanrj.com – Jakarta – The European Union has warned Apple against limiting the functionality of uncertified USB-C cables connected to iPhone 15 models.
For information, the iPhone 15 is expected to come with a USB Type-C port. This warning from the European Union comes after reports emerged that Apple plans to limit charging speeds and feature uncertified USB-C cables in its Made for iPhone program.
The use of the USB-C port on the iPhone 15 is Apple’s attempt to comply with a law that came into effect last year requiring that devices with wired charging must have a USB-C port in order to be sold in Europe.

Meanwhile, Apple has until December 2024 to comply with the law, with the switch from Lightning to USB-C on the iPhone 15 series due later this year.
Recently, there was a report indicating that an authentication chip would be included in the USB-C port on iPhone 15 models to confirm the authenticity of the connected USB-C, as well as ensure that the cable is Made for iPhone certified to optimize fast charging performance.
In response to this, EU Commissioner Thierry Breton has sent a letter warning APPle that such actions will not be permitted and will prevent iPhones from being sold in the European Union when the relevant law takes effect, reports Gizmochina.
