iwanrj.com – Jakarta – During the Eid al-Fitr 1444 H or Eid 2023 holidays between April 19 and April 27 2023, XL Axiata customers apparently like to open the WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook applications so that traffic for some of these applications tends to be high.

Data from XL Axiata’s Customer Experience & Service Operation Center shows an increase in data service traffic by more than 37% compared to the Eid period of the previous year, and 17% compared to normal days before Ramadan.

Director & Chief Technology Officer of XL Axiata, I Gede Darmayusa said that the surge in traffic was inseparable from the enthusiasm of the people to travel back and forth and take vacations, like the previous years before the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We at XL Axiata are grateful to be able to provide maximum service to customers during this joyful Eid holiday, and during this holiday period there was a significant increase in data traffic,” said Gede.

Gede added, the pattern of using various types of data services by XL Axiata customers during the Eid holidays can illustrate how optimally Indonesian people are in utilizing digital facilities for various daily needs.

During the 2023 Eid holiday period, XL Axiata’s service traffic was dominated by application types Access files such as Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram which reached 36%, applications Instant Messaging 33%, Games 11% and Stream which reaches 10%, as well as other services reaching 9%.

Traffic increases also occur in each application. For example WhatsApp increased 43%. Then Instagram 55%, Twitter 15% and Facebook 4%. While Netflix reached 36%, Disney Hotstar 22%, TikTok 12% and YouTube rose 5%.

“Access to video streaming services through social media is also quite high, which shows the enthusiasm of the people to share joy with each other,” explained Gede through an official statement received on Tuesday (02/05/2023).

Navigation applications such as Apple Map, Google Map and Waze are quite widely accessed by people who travel so that their traffic increases by 9% to 75% compared to normal days.

Judging from the region, the increase in service traffic during the Idul Fitri holiday compared to the previous normal day’s traffic, respectively occurred in Central Java with an increase of 27%, West Java 19%, and East Java 17%.

Outside Java, service usage traffic in the North Sumatra region on average increased by 12%, South Sumatra 15%, Kalimantan 10%, Sulawesi 6%, Bali-NTB-NTT 10%.

Meanwhile, if viewed from the city or district area, nationally there are 3 cities or districts with the highest increase in traffic, namely Kebumen Regency, Central Java, which increased by 62%, Pandeglang Regency, West Java, 49%, and Pemalang Regency, Central Java, 48%.

“For service traffic in Jabodetabek, service traffic during the Eid holiday is seen to have fallen by 6% compared to normal days. The traffic data for Jabodetabek also corresponds to customer movement data during the Idul Fitri holiday period. XL Axiata’s monitoring data records that the rate of customer movement from the Jabodetabek area to other provinces is around 35%,” said Gede.

In order to ensure network readiness to meet customer needs during this year’s Eid holiday, XL Axiata previously increased network capacity up to 2 times larger than normal days.
