Telset.id – The Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate has been named a suspect in the BAKTI Kominfo BTS 4G corruption case, and here are a few facts behind the determination of the suspect Johnny Plate carried out by the Attorney General’s Office.

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung), has named a new suspect in the corruption case in the provision of 4G BTS infrastructure packages 1,2,3,4 and 5 BAKTI Kominfo 2020-2022, namely the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate.

Then Johnny Plate was charged with Article 2 and Article 3 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes juncto Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code for his acts of corruption.

This decision was very surprising to the public, considering that Johnny has the status of an active minister at the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo). The involvement of Johnny G. Plate also proves that the BTS 4G corruption by BAKTI Kominfo is a systematic crime because it involves many parties.

1. Johnny was examined 3 times by the AGO

Johnny Plate has been examined 3 times by the AGO. The first was on February 14, 2023, on which day Johnny was asked by 51 questions, especially his duties as supervisor of the Bnit Service Agency (BLU) such as BAKTI in Kominfo.

The second was on 15 February 2023, during which the Attorney General’s Office questioned its role as a supervisor and user of the budget at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.

The third examination was carried out today, Wednesday 17 May 2023, to explore the previous examination until finally naming the Minister of Communication and Informatics Johnny as a suspect.

2. The role of the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate

Director of Investigation (Dirdik) Jampidsus Attorney General’s Office Kuntadi said that Menkominfo Johnny had an important role in the alleged corruption case in the supply of towers BaseTransceiver Station (BTS) 4G and supporting infrastructure 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 BAKTI Ministry of Communication and Informatics in 2020-2022.

The suspect Johnny has a role as the Minister of Communication and Informatics and a budget user. This means that the funds that should have been allocated for the construction of 4G BTS networks in underdeveloped areas in Indonesia through BAKTI Kominfo were corrupted, so that the construction of 4G BTS did not go well.

“That person’s role is related to his position as a minister and as a user of the budget,” said Attorney Kuntadi.

3. The Attorney General’s Office searches the car and the Kominfo office

The fact that the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G. Plate is the next suspect, namely, the AGO searched the car to Jonny Plate’s official residence. After being named a suspect, the Attorney General’s Office immediately conducted searches of private cars, official residences and the office of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.

4. Corruption BTS 4G Losses Rp 8 Trillion to the State

The Attorney General’s Office has not been able to provide details regarding the flow of corruption funds received by Johnny G. Plate, because the investigation is still ongoing. However, the BTS 4G BAKTI Kominfo corruption case has cost the state up to trillions of Rupiah.

Based on calculations carried out by the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), the total loss to the state due to this case reached IDR 8.032 trillion, so this case must be investigated thoroughly.

5. The Minister of Communication and Information Johnny was immediately detained by the AGO

The Attorney General’s Office did not give special treatment to the Minister of Communication and Informatics, Johnny G. Plate. After being named a suspect, the politician from the Nasdem Party was detained at the Salemba Detention Center, the AGO branch for the next 20 days.
