iwanrj.com – Jakarta – Last April, some Twitter users experienced a bug in the Circle Tweet feature, but at that time the company did not provide an explanation of what caused the problem, and now the cause has been revealed.

In the last month, some users using the Circle Tweet feature encountered a bug that made private tweets visible to strangers, but the cause of this issue is still unknown.

After nearly a month, Twitter finally gave an explanation of the cause of the bug in the Circle Tweet feature. In a report from The Guardian, the company explained that the problem with the feature was the result of a security incident that occurred earlier in the year.

The social media owned by Elon Musk claims that the problem with this feature will be fixed soon, as a form of apology from the company.

“Twitter is committed to protecting the privacy of those who use our service, and we understand the risks incidents like this can pose. Additionally, we regret that this issue has occurred,” Twitter said.

When news of the bug first started circulating online, several people, including creator Theo Brown, speculated that the issue was the result of Twitter’s failure to filter Circle Tweets from its recommendation algorithm.

At the time, the company had not operated a communications department since the first round of Elon Musk’s layoffs, and the company did not initially acknowledge the problem.

Broadly speaking, Twitter has dealt with an increasing number of technical issues since Musk became CEO in October last year. The billionaire has reduced the workforce by 60 percent, including a senior technical team.

During that time, Twitter has experienced several outages and created confusion for users as it rolled out new features and removed some that were already available. [FY/HBS]
