Vivo X Fold 2, the first folding cellphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

iwanrj.com – Jakarta – Vivo released its newest folding screen smartphone Vivo X Fold 2 which is the first folding cellphone powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and various other supporting specifications.

Fold 2 is ready to compete with previous folding screen cellphones, because it is supported by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Qualcomm’s newest chipset powered by the fastest and most sophisticated Qualcomm AI Engine, which is capable of being integrated into the entire system.

Then the chipset is also combined with an upgraded Qualcomm Adreno GPU so that it provides 25% faster performance. Of course, Fold 2 is also combined with various other specifications that are no less fierce.

The Fold 2 series is a horizontally folding smartphone. The latest HP 5G Vivo has a 6.56-inch main exterior screen with a resolution of 2,520 x 1,080 pixels, with an interior screen measuring 8.03 inches with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,916 pixels.

Both screens feature AMOLED panels with refresh rate 120Hz, HDR10+ support, up to 1,800 nits peak brightness, and an integrated 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

In terms of dimensions, the X Fold 2 measures 161.3×73.4×13 mm and weighs 280 grams. Vivo says that the hinge is equipped with Vivo’s self-developed FS54 material, thus making the hinge durable and lightweight.

This best folding screen cellphone also has Flex Mode which allows users to fold the cellphone 90 degrees in a stable manner, good for calls, video playback, and photography.

About the camera Fold 2 has 3 circular camera modules on the back panel. All three consist of a 50 MP main camera with OIS capabilities, plus a lens telephoto 12MP and ultra-wide 12 MP.

The front camera uses a 16 MP selfie camera and all cameras are supported by the V2 chip on board to increase imaging capabilities. The kitchen uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor.

The chipset is combined with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and storage options of 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0. This foldable phone is powered by a 4,800 mAh battery unit with support for 120W wired and 50W wireless charging.

There is a VC liquid cooling system for heat dissipation. Software-wise, the device runs on OriginOS 3 and Android 13.

Vivo X Fold 2 is priced starting at USD 1,307 or IDR 19.5 million for the 12GB + 256GB RAM variant. Meanwhile, the Vivo X Fold 2 with 12GB RAM + 512GB is priced at USD 1,453 or Rp. 21.6 million.
