The Attorney General’s Office Reveals the Role of the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny in Corruption BTS 4G

Plate has been officially named a suspect in the BAKTI Kominfo BTS 4G corruption case, and the Attorney General’s Office revealed the role of the Minister of Communication and Information Johnny in this BTS 4G corruption case.

Director of Investigation (Dirdik) Jampidsus Attorney General’s Office Kuntadi said that Menkominfo Johnny had an important role in the alleged corruption case in the supply of towers BaseTransceiver Station (BTS) 4G and supporting infrastructure 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 BAKTI Ministry of Communication and Informatics in 2020-2022.

The suspect Johnny has a role as the Minister of Communication and Informatics and a budget user. This means that the funds that should have been allocated for the construction of 4G BTS networks in underdeveloped areas in Indonesia through BAKTI Kominfo were corrupted, so that the construction of 4G BTS did not go well.

“That person’s role is related to his position as a minister and as a user of the budget,” said Attorney Kuntadi.

It is not yet known about the flow of corruption funds flowing into Menkominfo Johnny’s pocket. However, referring to the report by the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) on the corruption of BAKTI Kominfo’s 4G BTS, it caused losses to the state of up to IDR 8.032 trillion.

In addition, Johnny’s corruption act violated Article 2 and Article 3 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes juncto Article 55 Paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

“Of course we are still studying this flow of funds and just waiting. That’s why after determining the suspect, the investigation activities did not just stop. We are still collecting other evidence,” said Kuntadi.

After being named as a suspect in the BAKTI Kominfo BTS 4G corruption, Johnny G Plate was immediately detained at the Salemba Detention Center, AGO Branch for the next 20 days. The determination of Johnny G. Plate as a suspect adds to the list of suspects in the BTS 4G BAKTI Kominfo corruption case.
